@ctrl youtubers that dont check their subtitles so they're not just inaccurate but outright incomprehensible at times

i dont even know how this happens on english subtitles under an english video but we run into it time and time again

@ctrl i learned that youtube has the capability for colored subtitles because tom scott subtitles some of his videos with different colors for different speakers which is a nice low-effort touch that greatly helps with comprehension

@ctrl see the thing is, thats not what i mean,

ive run into videos where there are proper subtitles, but they're just completely inaccurate

like they were for a previous draft of the script, but sometimes they break down entirely and just stop making sense altogether, its confusing, the automatic subs are usually better oddly enough

also, still need to send google hatemail for not making youtubes subtitles use an existing open format like srp so you can use third party subtitling tools

@rudi @ctrl oh yea strongly agreed, the one true upside to youtube using its own proprietary format with no third party tools

@ctrl tom scott is like the most goated youtuber but he's been at it for over a decade so it'd be a bad thing if he wasn't good at it
