#US friends, especially if you have a Republican senator: please call them today and ask that they oppose SB 9.

This is the senate bill to match the resolution that just passed the house about redefining Title IX to exclude trans people, especially trans youth, and is explicitly targeted at banning trans girls and fems from playing in sports divisions for girls and women.

Reasons you can give to oppose it:
1) Republican house leader invoked the Bible as a justification for the way the house resolution defines gender, and you support the separation of church and state.

2) The sex verification requirements are so vague, it is likely to empower predators to put themselves in positions to “verify” sex by “examining” the genitals and bodies of children. It also will likely be used to bully any girl who is different, with a similar law at the state level having been used to harass and bully a tall cis girl who won a competition and Black girls who outperformed white peers. So say you are against empowering sexual predators and bullies who would take advantage of this law.

3) Tell them you want them to focus on addressing real problems like affordable housing and inflation, and want them to stop wasting time by harassing trans kids. Tell them to actually do their jobs and leave trans kids alone.

Joe Biden pretending to be a responsible and active president in his last couple days in office does not impress me.

If anything he's said or done in these last few days has a net positive effect on the world, great, but don't give credit to this guy. If he wanted to be a good president, he would have tried a lot harder for a lot longer.
