(Meanwhile on GNOME the situation is you can't control the keyboard brightness out of the box, because they decided all laptops with a keyboard backlight must surely have dedicated keys for that purpose and therefore there's no need for a slider nor configurable keybinds and... Yeah. I dunno. We aren't even the only platform with this obvious problem. There are some things I just don't understand.)

It's pretty hilarious seeing so many anti-Wayland people think this is a parallel to systemd or pulseaudio or whatever (i.e. some people deciding to invent the new shiny because they think can do better - which is often the case, mind you) and not realize that Wayland devs are literally former Xorg devs. Everyone actually working on Linux graphics agrees native Xorg is dead. It's not some coup or takeover. It's practically a meme in Linux graphics that nobody dares touch or maintain Xorg any more.

Edit: please stop replying with your Wayland stories. This isn't about Wayland problems past or present. It's about people who act like Wayland is a conspiracy to kill X.

In the algorithm, MUST and MAY are to be interpreted according to RFC 2119.

1. MUST put oneself in an upright position, like sitting or standing.
2. MUST put both elbows down. MUST NOT move the elbows outside their rest positions.
3. MUST raise both hands up away from the body, remaining approximately planar with the chest.
4. MAY tilt hands away from body, as above.
5. MAY tilt head (as above), like a confused puppy
6. MAY raise both shoulders. MUST NOT raise exactly one shoulder.
