Interested in sustainability and #permaculture? Consciousness about how you engage with tech?
If you're in or around #Berlin this Sunday then come along to a #permacomputing workshop at /rosa (treptow).
We'll be taking a more technical look at smartphones and how they can be prolonged and/or repurposed with #postmarketOS

bring along your old phone and we'll see what we can do! check out wiki.postmarketos.org for a list of devices
Here it is; my write up of about a week's worth of work to better understand Godot Engine, Flatpak, and—in a way—game developers. :D
https://cassidyjames.com/blog/publish-godot-engine-game-flathub-flatpak/
It looks like a long post (and I could probably use an editor for concision!), but I hope it’s an easy read, and useful reference material.
Boost widely! Let’s get more indie games to Flathub!
Oh, and reply publicly here to comment on the post. :)

First photos taken with the Samsung Galaxy S III on #postmarketOS, probably! Credits to Jack Kekzoz, @martijnbraam, and whoever else helped him with getting #Megapixels working on the Midas (Samsung Galaxy S III and Note II) devices — I'm just posting about this, I didn't work on it myself. Hopefully we'll have it available in Edge over the coming months.
The testing phase for the upcoming postmarketOS release v24.12 has started! 🧪

## POST:COM:POST
** Regenerating rotting devices.**
* A Permacomputing Berlin Workshop *
15.12.2024 from 12-17:00h
kindly hosted by:
/rosa
Heidelberger Str. 28
12059 Berlin
In this workshop, we will attempt to install the Linux-based PostmarketOS on "obsolete" Android devices and find convivial new uses for them. This event will be more of a collective hacking and experimentation session than a traditional pedagogical instruction format. We can't promise to make every old device work again but we can offer a fun, informative and supportive environment.

2 more features for overlays:
The layout will need to be tweaked a lot (I mean I had a design for N64 which was completely different) but I wanted to try this one first just to check how it would work (answer - badly, the stick and A/B buttons are too low)

At last, the USB portal originally authored by @refi64 in 2021, later continued by Georges Stavracas in 2023, and finalized by @hub and @swick, has been merged!
The USB portal allows sandboxed formats like Flatpak to access USB devices without poking holes in the sandbox. This is great for security, as accessing USB devices will now need to be explicitly granted by the user.
Now we just need to wait for implementers to implement them in their respective portal implementations, starting with GNOME: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/xdg-desktop-portal-gnome/-/merge_requests/159
The documentation for the USB portal is available on the xdg-desktop-portal website: https://flatpak.github.io/xdg-desktop-portal/docs/doc-org.freedesktop.portal.Usb.html
