The new adaptive testing feature has motivated me to finally fix Keypunch's mobile layout! The configuration dropdowns are now moved down to the text view itself on narrow screen sizes. It was pretty easy to accomplish with the new multi-layout widgetry. It's amazing how far we've come with regards to adaptivity.

Blogged about that thing I posted about last week since it landed: https://blogs.gnome.org/alicem/2024/12/19/mobile-testing-in-libadwaita/

I did a thing (I got tired of endlessly resizing the window in very precise ways to test moble screen sizes)

reminder that the librem 5 is more complicated and more expensive to meet the FSF Respect Your Freedom certification. What do you get for this? Some firmware is stored on a flashROM rather than internal storage, making it HARDER to reverse engineer and replace

Here it is; my write up of about a week's worth of work to better understand Godot Engine, Flatpak, and—in a way—game developers. :D

https://cassidyjames.com/blog/publish-godot-engine-game-flathub-flatpak/

It looks like a long post (and I could probably use an editor for concision!), but I hope it’s an easy read, and useful reference material.

Boost widely! Let’s get more indie games to Flathub!

Oh, and reply publicly here to comment on the post. :)

First photos taken with the Samsung Galaxy S III on , probably! Credits to Jack Kekzoz, @martijnbraam, and whoever else helped him with getting working on the Midas (Samsung Galaxy S III and Note II) devices — I'm just posting about this, I didn't work on it myself. Hopefully we'll have it available in Edge over the coming months.

For some last-minute, end-of year joy, please join us in Berlin for a workshop:

## POST:COM:POST
** Regenerating rotting devices.**

* A Permacomputing Berlin Workshop *

15.12.2024 from 12-17:00h

kindly hosted by:
/rosa
Heidelberger Str. 28
12059 Berlin

In this workshop, we will attempt to install the Linux-based PostmarketOS on "obsolete" Android devices and find convivial new uses for them. This event will be more of a collective hacking and experimentation session than a traditional pedagogical instruction format. We can't promise to make every old device work again but we can offer a fun, informative and supportive environment.

For sign-up and more info: https://berlin.permacomputing.net/

At last, the USB portal originally authored by @refi64 in 2021, later continued by Georges Stavracas in 2023, and finalized by @hub and @swick, has been merged!

The USB portal allows sandboxed formats like Flatpak to access USB devices without poking holes in the sandbox. This is great for security, as accessing USB devices will now need to be explicitly granted by the user.

Now we just need to wait for implementers to implement them in their respective portal implementations, starting with GNOME: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/xdg-desktop-portal-gnome/-/merge_requests/159

The documentation for the USB portal is available on the xdg-desktop-portal website: https://flatpak.github.io/xdg-desktop-portal/docs/doc-org.freedesktop.portal.Usb.html

So, I ran out of meds, and I need a prescription to buy them, BUT THEY HAD NO APPOINTMENTS UNTIL FEBRAURY 😭, I gave up until today when I saw that there are already appointments for December, I was happy until I saw that they are charging me 30 euros, I am from Colombia, it's like 1 euro or so! I will have to get used to abstinence until I understand what's going on, I can't do much development so this is horrible u.u

Happy to share that my implementation of xdg-toplevel-drag-v1 protocol for Mutter has landed and should start shipping in Gnome 48 🎉 That's part of an ongoing effort @ @igalia to officially ship Chromium Ozone/Wayland backend.

For the ones curious about the technical bits and challenges for a first-time contributor for Gnome/Mutter, I'll be covering it in a blog post series in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
