a lot of people slam GNOME's design philosophy, but I appreciate the fact it generated this large wave of these single-use, well-made applications that most people would normally just use some shady website that may or may not sell this data and retain it until the arrival of christ.
file conversion, media compression, media downloading, text extraction, etc. works offline, looks good, and you don't need to use the terminal (like what most people think about Linux, obviously).
all of which kind of made it hard for me to boot into my Windows partition when I have to, since I got used to just having an app avaliable for these sorts of "mini-tasks" at my disposal.
