#Google does focus sometimes on #security correct?

Why don't they also focus on #privacy too? blobcatthink

@asahi95
Long story short they care for all of these things as long as they can harvest ads from it and put their own telemetry in to be the end owner

@ghostzero I suppose they do need to do ad business and collect some data, in the process of trading off some privacy, in order to gain profits to sustain themselves

Google's security is somewhat fine imo but I don't trust them with my data

@asahi95 Because getting data from their users IS their business, their real clients are those in AdSense

@Tau I really wish that Google did some different business model, I dislike the ad revenue model

Although, that would make their products cost money, which would be a disadvantage in convenience

@asahi95 If they gave a little bit more to free users I think I'd be okay with their model.

If they want to use ads and data as payments for stuff, if they gave us more value for that data (30-50gb account storage?) I'd just call it payment and be cool with them at that point.

@nyaa I'd be on the same boat as you too, users can get even better convenience out of this all while Google doesn't have to put a price tag on their existing products

Maybe I could send them feedback on this and see if they would give it a try, although not entirely sure if they would look at my email lol

@asahi95 They want secure access that's bypassing your privacy safeguards, not secure privacy safeguards against bypassing.

@asahi95 Yeah I doubt they would, you do get a direct support line contact if you have Google One, but they generally don't respond to the public.

Looking into if they've talked about storage increases, it looks like they have increased the storage for Google Workspace individual users from 15gb to ~24gb for some users within the past week without an official statement yet, so there's a little hope, even though that's business user, and they pay, still a storage increase without any price increase.
