I wonder whether #Firefox or #Vivaldi, both on mobile, perform better than the other when using the Calckey PWA

Tbh, I can’t really compare

In my experience PWAs perform better on Chromium-based browsers (Firefox for android and forks are the only (!) mobile browsers to not use Blink*)

*iOS uses it's own technology, but it's a fork of KHTML, the same as Blink

@Tau It seems to load faster but become gradually unstable the longer I stay inside the PWA, that’s my own experience tho (and plus I got a Pixel 3a which is aging slowly)

@asahi95 TIL Firefox mobile does support PWAs. I’ve been using Fennec from F-droid, and it doesn’t, so I assumed Firefox didn’t.

@nyaa I’ve been using Mull and they support PWAs like regular Firefox so I’ve used that a while ago

It worked, loading times were slower but stability was there for me

The problem with Mull is, since it doesn't come with google apis, offline notifications don't work

@Tau @nyaa Ah yes, I’ve had that issue before, strangely Vivaldi doesn’t show notifications either despite being a Chromium browser

@asahi95 Vivaldi seems to have a few disconnects with things in Chromium.

For extensions, you can’t set shortcuts to only work “In Vivaldi”, you can set it, but they won’t work due to some technical reason in Vivaldi. You have to set them to “Global” to use them.

I installed Vivaldi precisely because I thought it'd have notifications but alas, it didn't

@Tau @nyaa I mean I mainly just check Calckey manually either way but yea, having notifications would’ve been a better experience

@nyaa It’s somewhat and sometimes frustrating that these things occur but i suppose that’s how the browser is built

@hnb Neat! well I use Vivaldi because of its customization and I was able to snag their free webmail service!
