I don't have a copy of the report I submitted, but from memory I reported it as breaking the "act like an adult" rule, with the justification that transphobia is not adult behaviour.

On one hand, arguably I'm stretching the definition.
On the other hand, that's the closest match in the listed server rules.

I then received a warning by email with the text
"Please do not report posts unless they break the rules. We don't like getting reports."

@1dalm Now, it's true that there are server rules against illegal and NSFW content, and not against transphobia or hateful conduct in general.

I've received a couple of reports about NSFW content, because of posts from accounts I follow that turned up on the federated timeline.
That's fair, them's the rules, and I un-followed accounts accordingly.

But with that context, and no response of "hey, you're right: that's bad behaviour," the import of the response is "we're OK with that here."

that... shouldn't be your job to make sure you don't mane them federate nsfw accounts..? imo, they're the one who should mute/fediblock accounts posting nsfw...

I get that they have limited resources for chasing such things, though, and it's stated to be a SFW instance. Personally, I don't mind doing a little curation here and there to stay within bounds.

I tried to report a nazi server when I first started using this account (I joined years earlier, but never really used the account.)

Admin DM'd me saying something like "we don't block people for having stupid opinions."

I thought I'd stepped over some social line, so I was meek about it. New here on Mastodon, etc.

Now I think I'll have to move as well...

I'm actually kind of surprised that the mastodon software doesn't aggregate instances blocked by users for investigation by, say, ranking them or something.

I think you have labeled us unfairly. Please see the latest thread and maybe rethink posting that "transphobia is protected on this server."

We were recently DDOSed directly after your post. If the instance doesn't fit your needs, we understand, but I think your claims go a bit far, and basically slander the moderators.
