this is really all the needs to be said anymore on this person. this is how far outside reality he is when it comes to transfem people. our oppression does not exist, there are no bigoted communities targeting us.

@winter I really, *really* wanted to give both sides the benefit of the doubt here. Years ago I was also blind to queer "politics", so obviously I'll be completely blind to what PoC experience.

But god, I've read so much crap over the past 24 hours, tried to think of every possible perspective. This isn't even the first post I've seen where he dismisses other people's abuse!

My mind is strongly made up at this point.

I think I didn't mention that many of us are trans too. I have the luxury of not being targeted when I become invisible. Maybe he should try that.

That's enough for me to consider them an enemy unless it changes and since he insists on public apologies I see no reason not to insist on the same standard.

@Toni2167 @winter honestly their whole argument here is just completely nonsensical. even acting under the presumption that he’s transmisogynistic (he is) and he views trans women as men (he very likely does), like, they’re still trans. Trans people still experience massive amount of harassment and hate from bigoted communities literally every fucking day regardless of whether or not you view them as their actual gender or their biological sex. This has devolved beyond transmisogyny and into just denial of basic facts.

@slips @Toni2167 I mean there's people out there who believe trans people have it so good in life that kids would just pretend to be trans for attention, rather than the reality where we live under constant threat and usually deny ourselves for years out of fear

@winter @Toni2167 @arisunz There used to be this thing called Peerblock, which used multiple small blocklists. We’re simply going to have to start small and rely on evidence. I imagined a list that was just instances over 20,000 people, another one that is just gatekeeping people who don’t have a TOS or whatever, and other miscellaneous stuff that isn’t offensive content but which people may not want.

It annoyed me greatly to see stuff like “.tk domain” listed as a common reason for banning and I don’t want to encourage stupidity, but the best way is to make the users free to decide and to make the cost of an individual mistake low by using smaller lists.

For banning actual fascists and stuff, it’s an unwinnable whackamole, but there are plenty of large servers that we are sure about, and admins – in my view – can just individually ban all the 20-member basement servers, so the actually work there may be smaller. I have another database with tens of thousands of rows that I sort of frequently have to edit manually. It’s hell, but 100th that amount? Eh.

@kelarima @Toni2167 @arisunz 👾 there are always more little single user fashy instances, but I've found there's no point in trying to find and block them all, just blocking enough of the big ones usually ensures you never federate with the swarm that orbits them. but a list of fascists is reasonable, and trivially easy to prove, like, if you go to a public timeline and see swastikas, open and shut case. anyone could pull five receipts from an actual blocklist-worthy intance in a few minutes. so I think that can be safely done without collateral damage, if evidence is required to get on the list, instead of just a certain number of an arbitrary council deciding who is racist.

@emberquill @winter Not racism, a very specific racism (read: whatever affects him and those closest to him). The fact that he's whitewashing all of us who are a variety of ethnicities that aren't black is, quite literally, racism.

@winter @slips Yeah. I've only been in the lgbtq+ community for three or so years and the trans community for less so navigating all this is difficult & traumatizing at times (not that it isn't for those who have been around for far longer) but I see it
