@bagelcollie *steamed hams voice* oh ho ho no, it's not a subscription, it's a recurring monthly payment
@bagelcollie i would almost be more surprised if they didn't attempt that. I bet if it catches enough backlash though they'll make a "free to play" version that has even more ads than the current builds of windows (the paid version will have the usual number of ads)
@daviddd @bagelcollie new Linux u and knuckles featuring Dante from the devil may cry series
@chrisisgr8 @bagelcollie from the brilliant minds that brought you windows rt and windows 10s comes the next revolutionary product from microsoft, windows 12 f2p
@krishean @bagelcollie in our lifetimes we will see a windows login screen where a fullscreen ad for Harry Potter Is Just Asking Questions plays at 2fps
@chrisisgr8 @bagelcollie the ad is entirely ai generated since daniel radcliffe has fallen out of favor for supporting people's basic human rights
@bagelcollie hellbeast doggirl context: Windows 11 has recently apparently introduced a "Windows 11 IoT Enterprise Subscription".
Neowin initially picked this up as a Windows 12 leak (https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-might-want-to-be-making-windows-12-a-subscription-os-suggests-leak), which PCMag reported off them (https://www.pcmag.com/news/windows-12-may-require-a-subscription)
Recently, Neowin published an article (https://www.neowin.net/news/a-new-report-denies-rumors-of-a-subscription-based-windows-12/) where they concede that their reporting was wrong, linking to the Windows Central article.
So the Windows Central article isn't biased, the leak literally was just not Windows 12.
The title is technically correct but they should have worded that as fact ("Windows 12 Subscription rumour is actually for Windows 11") in the title instead of going for the shitty clickbaity inflammatory opinion piece title, but I digress.
@bagelcollie in fairness: Zac has a lot of good internal knowledge
but never doubt Microsoft will keep boiling us harder
@roxy patented 'recurring monthly payment', an old family recipe !
