@bodhipaksa i can't recall if i've broken the rule, but i most certainly prefer boosting images with alt text, even if i'm not aware of a single person that follows me being vision-impaired
@bodhipaksa
So some apps aren’t great at showing if there is alt text. So I also use the @PleaseCaption to tell me if something I boosted didn’t have alt text and then I’ll unboost unless they fix it.
PS. There is no "sometimes" option because if you sometimes boost images that lack alt text then you DO boost images that lack alt text.
@bodhipaksa
I sometimes boost images without alt text. I sometimes drive a car. I sometimes eat meat. I sometimes take a plane. I'm trying my best without being an intolerant purist.
@bodhipaksa I must admit, I don't always realize that media might not have alt text because I don't always look for it.
@bodhipaksa I've not posted some things because I couldn't write alt text for it. It's not hard to do and makes this place more accessible 🤷
@bodhipaksa Option #4: I dont boost images, I boost toots.
@bodhipaksa I've seen images that have explanations of the image in the regular text space, and leaves the alt blank.
Also as someone who often post things via their phone it's sometimes really impossible to see everything written on the image because it shrinks it down into a tiny little square. Cuts off most of the image and almost all of the words. Makes it extremely hard to make an alt text.
