@unfortunateshort I need[1] proprietary Software to run. Said software garbage needs access to hardware of matching quality. HW passthrough is nothing more than a delusional fiver dream. 😭

@gom imho the way to combat the "Linux=Ubuntu" problem is with Flatpak. It's community-lead, independent, is included in tons of distros ootb, and actually works well across the entire ecosystem.

If a company makes their software available via Flatpak, it's now compatible with Ubuntu AND every other Linux-based desktop with a single codebase.

@gom can't go wrong with Linux Mint. It's based on Ubuntu, but uses flatpaks instead of snaps. Aside from that, the installation of proprietary software should be pretty much the same process
