hey can we stop normalizing games being FUCKING MASSIVE????

just because storage is getting cheaper doesn't mean everyone can afford it.

also that download's gonna take a hell of a lot of time, consider that not everyone has FUCKING LIGHTSPEED WIFI.

@badeline this would take 4 actual days to download on my old internet, (67mbps) and there was no way to upgrade it back then due to the cabling in my building being old. fucking hell. what are they including in it to make it 300GB???

@torepang yeah my internet is ~100kbps and goes down CONSTANTLY, so this would take ABOUT A FUCKING YEAR to download

@badeline do they still release games on blu-rays, like with the game itself being on the blu-ray rather than it just downloading the entire thing from the internet? feel like that would be a solution if consoles didn't insist on you downloading updates to the system.

awful.

@badeline @torepang heh im not that sure about the good public transit part… or i mean i guess it is decent as long as its not long distance, although i had a surprisingly good experience with that recently, until i didnt which was actually PKPs fault somehow?
and certainly a thing that germans dont seem to appreciate is that youre able to get almost everywhere with public transit, which is definitely not the case in poland, where its inexistent outside of cities and it hurts me very much

@badeline oh god no some quick math assuming no one else is using the internet at all for the duration of the download tells me it would take 9h33m to download (9MB/s) and would use just a touch over half my remaining storage
this is ass backwards insane

@badeline@labyrinth.zone Not just that but most people don't have much more than 1TB of SSD/NVME. And if each game is 300GB, you will fill that with 3 games.

@lamp@kitty.haus @badeline@labyrinth.zone Nah, they don't do that anymore. They now come with the game, but you can't use them unless you pay.

@badeline fwiw, 310GB isn’t just one game; it’s Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Warzone 2.0, and Black Ops 6 combined - due to how the CoD HQ bs works

Our install of Warzone 2.0 + Modern Warfare II is only 120GB, which is much more reasonable for a game and a half
