- it looks nice out of the box and has nice personalisation options
(I don't like green)
- there's software for almost everything you can think of
(I was positively surprised how many things have linux-native versions now. Dungeondraft and Wonderdraft! 💙)
- handles multiple monitors without a peep
- stuff just works out of the box
-- printer? check
--scanner? check
(yes, it's a brother. I like easy mode)
-- steam / blizzard / other games? triple check
- if stuff doesn't work out of the box, there are how-tos. If you ask me, well written and friendly how-tos.

necrophcodr@layer8.space@bluewitch ain't anything wrong picking an easy mode distribution. for me, what I've picked is ALSO easy mode! whatever is nice and you like and actually WORKS for you (or doesn't, if tinkering is important), is the best!
and as opposed to macOS and Windows, there are MANY variations and options! each with a different reason to be awesome!

necrophcodr@layer8.space@bluewitch NixOS. Very not beginner friendly for most people, but for what I'm trying to do it is easier than Linux Mint, it feels like. Which is to have a clear and declarative system, on which software projects have clear and declarative precise dependents, and NixOS makes this very easy. But that's a very very niche use case too.

- keep things legal. this includes pirated content, since we want to keep a good relationship across fediverse servers. posting CSAM is strictly forbidden and will result in legal action.
moderation policies
the sanctions for local users will be relative to the gravity of their infringements, varying from simply deleting the offending material, to warning the user through a three-strike system, to immediately banning the offending user.
