Can someone explain what the alternative is supposed to be in gnome for not having a minimize button? I don’t really want to use gnome tweaks. I’d like to use the interface as intended, but I don’t know what the alternative is supposed to be for minimizing applications.

@itsmekeli workspaces! If you don’t need an app (or a whole workflow) right now you can stash it away on another workspace

@danirabbit @itsmekeli this isn't an acceptable solution imo... it just makes things messier, especially if i'm trying to use workspaces as... workspaces, each workspace has a different thing i'm doing.

I'm also not going to stash a window all they way to the last workspace neofox_googly_shocked

@itsmekeli for a rare instance when I want to get a window out of the way, I right-click › Hide. But most of the time, I just pop onto a new workspace to leave something else going on in the background. In the best cases, apps actually support closing their window while still working in the background, but that's not the most reliable with cross platform apps.

@itsmekeli the "artist intended" way is to just separate stuff into workspaces, and floating/maximised windows in the same workspace can be switched between with alt+esc
