austria has an online portal ("Mein Postkorb") for receiving governmental mail correspondence

that portal has a settings page where you can select, from a list, the types of files they can send you in addition to the usual ones (yknow, PDF and such)

naturally that list includes:

  • Unix man pages
  • raw PostScript
  • PHP
  • CSS
  • Windows help files
  • StuffIt archives
  • ShockWave Flash
  • Windows registry files
  • Quake/Half-Life sprites
  • Bourne shell scripts
  • JavaScript
  • AutoCAD files
  • Tcl scripts
  • Virtual Reality Markup Language
  • compiled Java classes

sad that they don't let you opt out of the default formats

if i ever get a court order i specifically want to receive it as an autocad file packaged for classic mac os

@arcade it's probably just a very coarsely categorised list of file extensions filtered for text, image, and archive formats

(.class is lumped together with .bin and some others as "unspecified/binary")
