What’s the difference between a petri dish and the Fediverse?

After a few years, the petri dish will have some culture

@yassie_j fedi has a “culture”, it’s a “cancel culture” (for lack of a better term), it feeds on “fedi meta” & likes to take stabs at eachother.
at the end of the day, the “popular” accounts gain a larger following, & the people just trying to fucking live their lives in peace get hurt, or outcast, or worse, killed. actually dead killed.
& they get away with it.

@yassie_j The scum that grows in the petri dish might at least have a practical use.

@yassie_j I disagree. It's literally impossible for any group of humans not to have some sort of culture. I came here when twitter went to shit and let me tell you, they're very different. Twitter doesn't care about misery. Fedi has bwee. We made a joke out of a fucking bot because they're so rare. On Twitter that's too common. It's difficult to see your culture from the inside.

@Axolotl1 I have been on the Fediverse for nearly three years now, I am very much aware of a concept of Fediverse culture, not to worry! This post is tongue-in-cheek, it’s not completely serious
