Man, patreon is both a blessing and a curse.
I really do like that creators can get paid for doing what they like, but sometimes it feels like they're saying "Want to enjoy something when you're poor? Well sucks to be you!"
And thaht's not actually the problem of any particular creator, it's the whole damn system where one *has* to monetize their creations or else die hungry and homeless.
@Deiru Not wanting to have people who can’t afford to tip or do a monthly subscription or anything feel like they’re missing out is a big thing for me, because I hate when I feel it. Unfortunately it does mean you don’t get nearly as much as maybe you could, especially in higher levels and there’s cases where people do need the money, it just, well I guess it is what it is.
With regards to paywalling, Patreon actually does have an objective problem: To get access to stuff, you *have* to subscribe.
What if I don't want to subscribe but want access to certain few things from different tiers?
A counterpart to Patreon popular in Russia, called Boosty, actually allows you an alternative of buying access to a specific post without the burden of paying full subscription.
Usually individual items cost a fraction of the subscription, which is exactly the point.
Capitalism bends you over and does you dirty and cheap, a tragedy of our times.
