the only ways i can justify crypto is if you're using an anonymous system like monero, and even then it's still ridiculously inefficient.

like that's a use i can justify. if you need to donate to people in emergencies where you're unable to use fiat or you are in those exact conditions. otherwise you're either getting scammed or burning tons of dinosaurs into the atmosphere for no reason

@adrn it's built on NEAR, which is built on a proof-of-stake model, which is anti-democratic in terms of how the network operates. it means essentially "earn more = control more". plus the price not being pegged to any real asset means the price could be doomed to be unstable.

@adrn with SWEAT the price is pegged to how much people exercise. people don't exercise enough? market crash!

@adrn the only reason i can justify monero is because of how private it is, which is great if you're in critical situations like in an abusive household or a country in war, to give some examples. it's still proof-of-work and it's price is still derived from speculation, but it has a real use case.

@m i don’t care about most of that (maybe that’s bad but it’s just cause i barely use crypto so i may need to be better informed) i mostly care about the environmental impact
