the more I hear about Rayman Legends Retold, the more I begin to be won over by it, like. we have:
- original voice actors returning
- barbara is an actual character this time
- there's an actual story and an actual villain
- locations and stages from older rayman games are included, which leads to:
- origins and legends are being attempted to be actually folded into the greater rayman world/story when previously they were entirely separate canon
- rabbids are being re-included into the world in some way also
- rayman origins remaster with also new stuff from old games and including content from all versions is included. for free
- the whole thing is $40
now. I did kind of get burned with rayman 30th anniversary edition and its soundtrack situation, so I'm under no illusion that they couldn't still fuck this up somehow. but I'm currently pretty excited, and I wanna be excited, cause I haven't really been able to be excited about a new rayman game since I was a kid, and I wanna believe this one will be actually good lol
also the logo is real funny to me because 'rayman' and 'retold' are the biggest parts of the logo, and legends is just kinda snuck in there, as if by obligation lol
@fluttergirly on today’s edition of remakes we didn’t need but which seem good anyways!
@fluttergirly tbh i don’t really care for what the rayman franchise was after rayman 1. like there’s this love of and reverence for nature and a sense of whimsy that rayman 1 nailed and that rayman 2 just seems to have completely abandoned
