I learned recently that there's actually more archaeological evidence to support the events of the illiad and the odyssey than there is for many events in the bible, and yet the illiad and the odyssey are still easily accepted as being almost entirely myth... the only real difference is that one of those is not the basis of an actively practiced religion, huh

@shroomie the part in specific I learned about was the story of moses and that basically not a single detail of it lines up with anything that actually happened, and that's thanks to the egyptians being such good recordkeepers lol like everything the egyptians wrote down and all the physical evidence contradicts it

in fact it seems to have been written quite awhile into the future from when it supposedly happened, by someone with a poor grasp of the timeline involved
