its infuriating theyre gonna make daylight savings time permanent instead of making it permanently not daylight savings time. just so so stupid… we’re never gonna have a chance to undo that cause no one would ever care enough… do this right or not at all…

The thing is, there really ought to be a latitude that divides permanent DST near the poles and permanent non-DST near the equator. People near the poles have good reasons to want permanent DST, people near the equator have good reasons to want permanent non-DST. Let everyone get what they need.

That's actually what they did in Argentina! In 1942 we switched over to DST and just never went back. The nation of Argentina has been in permanent daylight savings time for almost a century.
