WTF? Threads is blocking links to the official website of France’s left coalition (Nouveau Front Populaire) in the upcoming snap legislative elections, https://www.nouveaufrontpopulaire.fr
EDIT: 16 hours later, Meta has silently lifted the ban on all its platforms → https://nileane.fr/@nileane/112665591274407118
Alright, two things:
Yep, it seems the www. subdomain is required for that website to work. https://www.nouveaufrontpopulaire.fr
However, even that is blocked on Threads:
Pasting a link to the far-right party's website works perfectly fine. Same for Macron's party's website.
The left coalition's website is the only one that's blocked by Threads.
FWIW, I posted a link to that website on Threads about a week ago, and it worked fine. https://www.threads.net/@nileanedorffer/post/C8Mxi8NIh6b
If they're indeed blocking this URL now, that happened in the last couple of days.
WELP.
Threads just removed my post from last week which had a link to the left coalition's website.
I'm now locked out of my Threads account
What is going on right now???
@catflyhigh why are you showing me a Bluesky screenshot. I'm talking about Threads here
Confirmed: https://www.nouveaufrontpopulaire.fr is also blocked on Facebook and in Instagram stories.
@nileane@nileane.fr fediverse doesn't have this problem
@kevinrns @nileane There is a reply in this thread, that it might be automatic, because the domain is on a domainblocklist for spam because the domain is not configured in an optimal way. To me that sounds like the more likely cause, given how the domain is set up otherwise (reroute from domain to www version not working either).
@nileane On Twitter the #NouveauFrontPopulaire hashtag is *never* suggested, only dismissive variants used by the far-right or other names can be autocompleted. Same thing on the mobile app and on the web.
[Update] It seems Meta has just lifted the ban on “https://www.nouveaufrontpopulaire.fr” on its platforms.
My Threads post from last week has also silently been restored. (I didn't get any updates on my appeal) https://www.threads.net/@nileanedorffer/post/C8Mxi8NIh6b
Whatever hiccup in Meta's automated moderation mess that was, the fact that this happened in the middle of an election campaign and didn't prompt any kind of response from Meta is all sorts of messed up.
@nileane oui c'était pour confirmer merci, il m'arrive de comprendre ce que je lis
