sorry for being so hung up on this topic for a while it just really fucking upsets me seeing people try to argue that the same people that exploited me and ruined half of the years ive been alive should be able to keep doing that to other minors. it seems a few people in this space, both fedi and discord servers from fedi people, are completely fine with pedophilia as long as you say it with the right vibes.

@orange i dont like how the current legal system and prisons and shit work, however id rather have what we have now to get pedophiles and abusers away from minors than nothing.
there are so many things in the world that need to change, for the betterment of everyone, but we need to make what we have now work until then.

my opinion is that it shouldnt be the norm tho. situations like these are signs of a failure in society. gay kids shouldnt have to get groomed and used by older creepy men to express their sexuality.
also, the blame isnt on him, or any minor that ends up being abused. it's on the older people that know that it's wrong to act on it and take advantage of kids.
we need to protect minors, not by letting kids be with older people or whatever, but by making sure society doesnt fail them. if i was able to be myself, be heard, be taken seriously, and be cared about, i wouldn't have been exploited. not to mention i wouldn't be such a mess both with health and mental issues but thats an entirely different conversation lol.

@orange i get that, i was in a similar situation. i was closeted irl, and felt i could only really be myself online. my first relationships were with older guys, even one double my age. i dont think the fix to this is "15 year olds should be allowed to date older people" it should be "make society safer for queer people to exist and be open." if i was able to be open about myself in southern georgia when i was younger, i wouldn't have been getting groomed by an almost 30 year old abusing me for years.
