@nano completely agree. it's really tough. There's so much questionable/content farm junk that is only there to feed of kids attention spans and lack of parental monitoring. IMHO.
Not that the old internet was safe by any means, but ffs, it was much much nicer and less in your face then it is now. It was a place to explore, fun websites, flash games, etc. Now it's all ads, flashy sites, subscriptions and crap.
The web used to be people. Now it's corporations.
y’know i’ve done some reflection recently and i’ve decided that children just shouldn’t be allowed on the internet until they’re 13
before you say some shit like ”but you used the internet when you were a child! thats hypocritical!"
okay but heres the thing
the internet is way different now
in the 90s and 2000s, content geared towards children was either non-existent or high quality and didn’t come near content geared towards teenagers and adults
but we’re not in the 2000s anymore. the internet just isn’t safe for little kids anymore. everywhere you look on the internet is attention span destroying, mind numbing, colourful garbage to keep kids with a constant hit of dopamine, and that is no way to grow up
go look at youtube kids and roblox, hell even regular youtube. our generation didn’t grow up with the kinds of garbage on those websites. we didn’t have morgz, mr beast, ryan’s world, cocomelon, etc
there’s a reason ”ipad kid” is a relatively modern term
@edavies @rysiek part of why i liked using mastodon is that i enjoyed looking at the local feed, and my posts being seen by people there. not only on this art instance, but also a more generalist one which has a specific ~aesthetic~ that imo attracts people i more likely would enjoy reading. i haven’t had that experience so i can’t say for sure, but i think that mastodon.social users might not get the appeal of mastodon unless they try a smaller instance right away.
@asahi95 @testing @denzilferreira Yes, Kuketz doesn’t mention microG on the post, so I assume they are just talking about the mainline LineageOS (Not LOS with microG)

This isn’t probably going to have a footnote[^1], who would need a footnote on a fedi post^[Probably deranged]
