Staying informed feels more and more like a double-edged sword as I've been transitioning?
On one side, it's probably good to know whether my rights are being stripped away.
On the other, the world can be a really depressing place, especially when following the news.
If you want to try HRT but don't have easy access, that's a human rights violation in my view.
When I say “if you want to try”, I mean that access shouldn't depend on your gender identity, but only on you wanting it.
When I say “easy access”, I mean that there should be no more gatekeeping than at the most a doctor determining whether it would kill you or not, and if it wouldn't, then you should be allowed to try—within weeks.
When I say “human rights violation”, I mean that you are entitled to act in self-defense. You are categorically allowed to break the rules at least up to the point where the damage you are doing is lesser than what you would otherwise be exposed to. (And frankly, I think you can go even further.)
So lying and doing crimes to get access to hormones is morally good.
Trying to police it is blameworthy.
And if you want to try but have no any idea how, then fedi is a really good place to find that out. Just ask!

Dear vegans: be very cautious when buying orange juice in the Netherlands. The largest producer is now adding 0,02% cow milk to some variants to avoid the recently raised sugar taxes 😵💫
