there has got to be an option to swap backslash and enter
like surely someone somewhere made that
but i cant find it
ok, ive since realised the level 3 thingy i was inheriting in my symbols file i couldve just included with -option, and i do feel a bit silly now
however i cant figure out how to switch enter with the backslash key, just set it as a mod3, which as it turns out doesnt do a ton when the normal functionality overrides that
interesting predicament, i have a probably working symbols file but cant remember how to set a specific symbols file for the life of me
Im sneaky fomx.
Sneaked in your house.
sat on your couch.
ate your pasta.
installed freebsd on all your devices
maybe xkb aint that bad after all, at least for editing the modifiers on this layout to be less awful on ansi all i have to do is write a stub xkb_symbols file like this
oh shit i just discovered a thing, i can toggle capslock even though the layout removes the key by pressing both shift keys at the same time, super neat and useful
wha
ok so im at my xkb directory, and i literally cannot find the layout im using what the heck
ah wait its included in de isnt it
oh thats interesting, the neo homepage also has some compose key configuration snippets cause of course it does, including one module thats just⦠common german words so you dont have to type them out in their entirety
also just ones to support other scripts and one that is literally just unicode
as in you hit compose and write out the unicode codepoint, which i find really neat and useful
yea this is sufficiently cursed (redrafted cause i forgot to change the number row initially)
xkb is fucking mystical
im just gonna read the koy xkbsymbols file and pray that enlightens me enough to figure out what i need to do to swap super and M4 as well as swapping M3 and enter
so i just noticed the mnt reform keyboardβs neo layout option and how it makes some pretty drastic changes to cope with the ansi aspects of the keyboard (like the enter key)
i may genuinely try to copy some of these, moving enter where backslash usually is and replacing it with mod3 seems even more comfortable than the more typical case of using the backslash key (comfy key on your home row on iso, absolutely horrible on ansi)
might also swap super for mod4 while im at it, should be fine if i rebind my wm bindings to use alt instead since i dont use super alt-heavy programs like emacs anymore
"We're seeing solidarity strikes right now in Sweden where Swedish mechanics are on strike against Tesla. The Finnish and Norwegian dock workers have decided to stop unloading Teslas. Postal workers have stopped delivering Tesla license plates, but that would not be allowed in the United States. The United States has very strict laws around union organizing, and solidarity strikes are not legal."
