Can Lemmy instances please fricken block bad instances ffs.
If I hadn't already had Stux having a tantrum over me mentioning about him having neglected pixey.org meaning as soon as I looked at the federated, boom there be poast in all their g(l)ory and so on.
Well I certainly would of been bringing hell to him about doing the exact same thing launching his Geddit lemmy instance without blocking anything so hey that long list of "linked instances", oh hey poast, hey baest, hey xyz well known worst of the worst instances.
And just had lemmy.world come in my timeline and boom they have all that stuff in their linked instances too. FFS BLOCK SHIT WILL YA. That's another defed for federating with the fricken worst.
And frankly with that big linked instances list, Lemmy instances have even less excuse for "not knowing" than Masto and so. Grrrr..
Just so people understand better, because I think it can be unclear. Here are the conditions for a post to appear on the Federated timeline.
The post will appear on the Federated timeline if:
(Post is Public 🌐
AND post is NOT a reply
AND (Created on your instance
OR (Created on a remote instance
AND (One of your instance's users follows the account that posted it
OR One of your instance's users boosted the post
OR One of the people followed by one of your instance's users boosted the post
OR One of your instance's users searched for the post
OR Your instance explicitly has added a relay that forwards all posts from the instance))))
On Mastodon, the post will always appear in the timeline at the time it was either boosted or posted, so a post searched for later, or a post arriving late due to federation traffic may appear in the middle of posts lower down in the timeline, not always at the top of the timeline.
the person who just boosted this
Okay, so apparantly Reddit decided that the GDPR is nonexistent today; https://tane.codes/@tanepiper/110553809293213303
Holy fucking shit, even though the restore is bad enough on its own, the evidence that reddit *has not deleted this data even though GDPR would compel them so* is even more damning
That lawsuit is fucking incoming, especially with the badwill they've accumulated this past month
