I feel like calling this a “war” is pure semantic games. It’s not a war, not at all. It’s a one-sided, preemptive strike by a big guy against a little guy. Like, what is the victory condition here? The US has neutralised the supreme leader already. War implies that there is some equivalent on both sides, but while Iran is an armed military state, it has no way of actually striking the USA. There’s nobody in the US who is remotely physically threatened. Add to the fact that there are no boots on the ground, so the most exposed that the US is to the conflict is pilots flying over the airspace. The US does not feel anything from the conflict, while Iran feels everything.
Jean Beaudrillard wrote in the 1990s that “The Gulf War Did Not Take Place”. He argued that while there was a conflict there, the vast majority of the work of the conflict wasn’t the fighting, but in creating the spectacle of fighting. The spectacle of war, to make it seem cool and palatable for the viewing public. The war is for YOU to believe that the USA is doing good. That every bomb thrown by Iran is somehow more destructive than the myriad weapons the USA and Israel are throwing at Iran.
As far as people in the imperial core are concerned, there really isn’t a war because they will never feel it directly. There is only the visual awe of war, where the other side of the battle is supressed to make it feel like this is A Good Thing
You can compare this to what is happening in Gaza. The media vacated the space of reporting on it, and the governments of the west barely massaged their messaging, which allows us to see real, authentic footage of what is happening there.
Meanwhile, the US is constantly flooding the media with curated imagery to bolster itself, in order to make it’s aspirations grander than they actually are
This only ends when the US gets it’s aim, which is… Unknowable. It changes every week. It’s sometimes Regime change, sometimes not. Sometimes it’s liberation, sometimes not.
What is a war that has no defined end? It is an atrocity.

after literally hours of waiting in customer support chat, the agent just plainly said “Upon checking, IPv6 is not yet available at this time.”
i followed up with “we used to have it so why was it removed?”
(is it obvious that i was mildly annoyed by their answer)
they then replied with a canned response: “I apologize for what happened. Could you please provide me with the status of your internet connection?”
after that i just ghosted them lmao
so either that agent is being a fuckwad (by incompetence, laziness, or otherwise), or globe is really just taking a step backwards on this (or both!)
