it's still wild how the "modders added it so mojang lazy!" argument still gets thrown around even when the fucking modders they use as examples go "this is literally not how it works"

@wish It has more to do with the fact that there's a massive string of planning and checks that have to be done (Optimization, ensuring it's good for a bunch of different playstyles, the overal quality of the feature itself, among other things). All of this needing to be done in two completely different codebases further complicates the whole process even further.
Almost all of this is something a modder is completely free to ignore or not even have to deal with at all, which is why they can get more content out and faster.
@wish The mob vote mostly comes out of a marketing stunt more than an inability to get all mobs in time.
They could delay the update and add all three, but they would miss on weeks of discussion about the game that further popularize it, so they make a vote to get people talking. After that they can easily repurpose the other mob's features into something else.
