Uh, one of the admins posted some vaguely sussy nsfw art of a pokémon and the owner banned them, so then the entire rest of the staff left, and then the owner walked back their statement but only AFTER everyone already went ahead with leaving so now the instance is changing hands.

@agatha@tech.lgbt short version: the owner of transfem.social demoted the entire staff over pokemon R34 art. This was the final straw after months of conflict, so we all quit in protest.

@AppleAmps @agatha specifically the mods (or at least hazelnoot but she described it as though it was the case for others) didnt really leave by choice but bc they were “forced out” (either literally or because they felt they had no other choice? unclear) for disagreeing that the art was sussy

That definitely sounds like as positive a resolution as possible at this point tbh. It’s rare that owners are willing to give up the reigns in these sorts of circumstances in my experience

I do think it will be the best possible resolution, and I’m optimistic that everything will work out.

@hazelnoot @agatha @Chel Me too, I put my blood sweat and tears into that instance. I felt so upset, it was like a rug had been pulled underneath me. Everything I worked for, repairing relations with other instances, having lengthy conversations and discussions about things. I don’t show a lot of my hard work on the instance (mainly because most people can’t fathom it, or even digest it) but believe me there’s a reason that everyone went with me. I am thankful for all the people who do appreciate my efforts and who stuck up for me as I was being kicked out of a safe space I helped build. Hopefully in the future there will be prosperity for the Sharkey project, and the instance itself. Despite what my posts may imply, I never wanted it to come to this. I worked hard to keep things running to the best of my ability, and under an extremely difficult power dynamic with someone who did not respect me or see me as equal.
