@anathema @fiore @lizzie okay ignoring this non-answer, i’m not gonna police how you practice religion and hold yourself and shit, but i feel like the whole guro cannibalism autoandrophilia thing wouldn’t go over well with my imagined “”average religious person””

@lizzie @anathema @fiore i vow that from now on whenever i imagine a religious person, i will imagine anna.

im Loving God's Work & His creation (myself)

ok thats another non answer but im gonna figure it out ... im starting small & working my way closer to the Lord aquaSalute

also i feel like organized religion is most valuable as a framework to guide personal religiousness ... i dont want to tie myself too too close to the fine print. if you get it ... i think love & faith are most important.... i can be a bad catholic but still try my best ubelPray

@anathema @fiore @lizzie @shroomie If you did a communion once you are a cannibal you consumed the body of God

@trans_caracal @anathema @lizzie @shroomie yea but they dont have the dogma of transsubstantiation (or whatever it is in english ) meaning that the “eating a dudes flesh” is regarded as a bit more than a symbol , while for catholics its Actual Human Flesh of the lord

@trans_caracal @anathema @fiore @shroomie reformed christians and baptists have differing views to eachother but neither consider it to actually be the body of christ

@shroomie @anathema @fiore @lizzie Matthew 7:1-5 NRSV-CI
[1] “Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. [2] For with the judgment you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. [3] Why do you see the speck in your neighbor's eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? [4] Or how can you say to your neighbor, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while the log is in your own eye? [5] You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor's eye.

@fiore @trans_caracal @anathema @shroomie i mean orthodox christians and lutherans do also think it is really the body of christ, they just dont like the particular way transubstantiation describes it.

anglicans generically say “real presence of christ in the eucharist” in a way that is deliberately ambiguous and makes room for lower views. my priest has said “we dont use [transubstantiation] in the episcopal church, but it is what i believe happens”

@fiore @anathema @shroomie @trans_caracal americans speak english bc we were a british colony. the episcopal church has been a major part of the american religious landscape the whole time and most of our founding fathers were anglicans.

fun fact our line of bishops actually comes from scotland bc english bishop ordination required swearing allegiance to the king and we weren’t too big on that post-revolution

@fiore @anathema @shroomie @trans_caracal other fun fact: our first bishop wore the hat wrong bc he didnt lnow how he was supposed to and it is cold in connecticut

> guro cannibalism autoandrophilia
> the "take, eat, this is my body" become one with the bearded dude graphically depicted as bleeding from something he's nailed to religion

@lizzie @anathema @fiore @shroomie @trans_caracal lutherans believe the real body and blood of christ is in, with, and under the bread and the wine

@krankheit @anathema @fiore @shroomie @trans_caracal yeahh that. it is an odd wording but i kind of like it tbh. functionally it amounts to consubstantiation

@lizzie @anathema @fiore @shroomie @trans_caracal i think generally they get upset if you use the word consubstatiation bc muh nuance but im not 100% sure, i dropped out of confirmation class (sad)

@krankheit @anathema @fiore @shroomie @trans_caracal they would get mad yes, since their view retains that the bread and body are separate things. it is similar though bc both are present

@krankheit @anathema @fiore @shroomie @trans_caracal weird specifics aside, they do tend to agree that “this us my body” and “this is my blood” are rather literal in my experience
