i was raised going to baptist churches but when people talk about prodestant stuff i tend to relate
when i talk about "dressing up for church" and i reveal that that means "a t-shirt that doesn't have a picture on the front" the catholics are scandalized
the sense i got as a kid was like
god likes to see us. he likes when we go to his house. there was no need to dress up in suits because we weren't there to try to impress him, or show off how respectful we could be. we were going to visit our friend god
obviously not exactly like that but that was a lot closer to the vibe than what i've seen of catholic mass
@monorail baptists are a subset of protestants so
yeah that makes sense
@ElusiveConfection i never like, thought about the different sects or whatever as a kid. i wasn't sure what "baptist" in the name of the church meant. and then i stopped believing and never cared to look into it
@shroomie oof i'm sorry you went through that
this is a silly post knowing what i know now. i've grown a lot since then
@shroomie oh yeah by "that" i meant mormonism
