@julia this is kind of the elephant in the room but really the "half of the entire network" mentioned there is full of racist trolls... And mastoart social not putting emphasis on fighting against racism and xenophobia (only mentioning "We believe in friendly interaction, respect, tolerance and peaceful coexistence." and a link to the covenant) is not exactly reassuring either i hope they get to figure that out better and not build a whole community just out of a reactionary "mastodon dot art bad" stance, because that's not gonna end well

@SharpLimefox they don’t just block racists, they block the majority of queer instances too.

@julia it's hard to believe but a lot of the racist trolls that are the most prevalent on this network are very well meshed within very white and transfem kinds of queer social circles (kind of a consequence of the fact that it was a big demographic since the start of the network i guess); most of the lgbt-centric big instances are also very liberal and lax with or blind to racism, so honestly that's a rather normal stance (see: tech dot lgbt)

nothing surprising. so far dotart does a good job at sniffing out the racists in particular; more people should take notes on that rather than reactively assume it's queerphobia or something. i guess that's a position that's the minority here though so yeah

@SharpLimefox I don’t doubt that there are plenty of racist transfems on the blocklist, but there’s numerous false positives on TBS. I simply dislike that blocklist in particular.
