So Q1 is almost over. Who is looking forward to seeing Tesla's quarterly earnings report from Q1 of 2025? I think it is going to be fucking *hilarious*.

@artemis are they sure there’s not a typo in “cant rail”?

I don't know how much Elon's ego and sense of self can survive this onslaught. He has been isolated from consequences his whole life, and now everything is falling down on his head.

This won't spark self-reflection, but it could create bewildered despair, and the thing is... taking his kid to work with him is not going to protect Elon from his own hand. I think there's a non-zero chance the person who assassinates Elon Musk will be Elon Musk.

He's never going to adequately pay for his crimes, and he has lots of damage to do yet, but I think in Elon we are going to be privileged to see what a "ruined man" looks like.

Because Tesla cannot survive. And if Tesla doesn't survive, the house of cards falls down. He's borrowed heavily against that stock, and you can bet the lenders want their money.

@artemis
If it happened with Hitler it can happen with Musk, I guess.

(Not that that'd be a good thing in either case of course because I abhor violence in all its forms)

@AppleAmps
I'm not rooting for that outcome, because what I want to see is the man having to actually answer to real people whom he has harmed.

But...I don't know that this guy is capable of dealing with that if it ever happens. He has no personal strength, no emotional intelligence, no internal sense of self. I'm confident that in his own head if he isn't Elon Musk Super Genius, then he is no one—he doesn't exist.

@artemis I dunno. During Trump's first term, I kept hearing "his creditors are about to call in the loans," but then they never did. I mean, I hope you're right, but it does seem like different rules apply to these guys. (or maybe no rules at all)

@Brendan
Absolutely true that different rules apply and we shouldn't count our chickens now, but the downward slide is accelerating, and I just don't think Tesla as a company survives much longer, and it's where most of his "wealth" comes from.

Tesla has taken plenty of popularity hits before, but that's one thing. People being afraid to even buy their cars or be associated with them is new.

@Brendan
But yeah, I *hope* this is the case, but only time will tell.

@artemis

I think you're attributing too much of Elon's self worth to Tesla, and I think you're using your own relationship with money to judge Elon's relationship with money.

Musk transitioned to DOGE simply because he knew Tesla's time had come. The dirty secret of Tesla is that this cybertruck recall is just the first of many, many recalls that are in the works. From software to hardware to engineering, these vehicles are deathtraps.

@johnzajac
Could be... certainly fair to say that Musk and I do not have the same relationship to money! (LOL)

I don't so much think his self-worth is tied to the money, but to the idea he is the world's greatest genius, & I think the hate and the public failure and humiliation are taking a huge toll on him. If his companies collapse, he loses the external "proof" of his genius, and I don't think the guy has any internal strength to fall back on. He needs constant validation on a massive scale

@johnzajac
Then again, he is a true fascist so on that front, he is still "succeeding."

@artemis

He's merely replacing the boost of wealth with the boost of untrammeled power, which are, in cosmic math, the same thing.

@johnzajac
You may be right...

I'll hold out my hope, but I continuously have to come to terms with the fact that the uber-wealthy are almost incomprehensible to me... barely recognizable as humans in some ways. I can see what they *do*, but I'll never fucking understand.

@artemis
Maybe an executive order requiring everyone to buy a Tesla? 🤔
