@sodiboo the theta symbol is a rune. i say this as someone who has taken university level math courses. everything is a bunch of ancient runes

@pastthepixels I disagree. I feel like theta is not a rune. I say this as someone who has a special interest in linguistics and just spent an entire hour researching the topic. runes are letters of runic alphabets; theta is a letter of an alphabet but it is from the Greek alphabet. the runic family of alphabets are related to the Greek alphabet, and while you could perhaps claim that Θ (theta) is a rune because ᚦ (thurisaz) has the same sound value and that sound is two steps derived from Θ (at least according to this chart); I feel like this is stretching it because two letters being related does not necessarily make them the Same. they are too far apart, look completely different, and are in entirely different alphabets, so even though one is influenced by the other, they are not The Same Letter and therefore Θ is not a rune

@pastthepixels also in my research I found a 10 year old YouTube video of a guy talking about the meaning of the rune. this doesn’t cover the etymology so it’s entirely unrelated to “is theta a rune” but it was a cool find I think

@pastthepixels yeah “rune” also has the connotation of like “magic runes” which is not an actual language but can be used to refer to almost any symbol really. I get that this is what you were going for HOWEVER I also thought it was an interesting question to research as if you meant runic script and wanted to present my findings to the class
