I feel like pauseable-real-time is very underappreciated. it’s not just very satisfying to people like me, but it’s also a helpful accessibility tool for those with slow reaction times or anyone who needs time to think. I feel like it’s mostly associated with strategy games but I’d love to see more genres add it - especially tower defense games like BTD6 (which I’ve been obsessed with lately. it’s a Very Good Game)

to be honest I would probably overuse it in BTD6 but it would also help me manage the chaos of some of the later free play rounds. plus I could pause when I feel like things are going badly and take a moment to think about how to respond, which would actually help me engage even more deeply with the game’s systems (like abilities, which I mostly don’t touch)
