Meatboy's Cotton Alley feels like such a core early 10's gaming idea. Like "what if the GIRL character had to save the BOY but her levels were actually HARDER?" is both cool and subverts the damsel in distress princess Peach tradition but like, making a whole show of it feels so quaint, y'know? Barely 3 years later Peach was playable in 3D World from the get-go and no one really cared.

It's also very Edmund M to do something neat and proto-progressive but in such an edgelord way that it feels weird and anachronistic.
