A lot of Shonen media does the thing where every character's powers are set at birth, which is fun for creating showy action scenes but it does also end up feeling a bit fashy. I wonder what some solutions are for setting up action between characters with very singular personal powersets would be without devolving your magic system to "have good genetics lol"

Yeah but those systems rely on making the powers external to the users, right? The things that give characters their abilities are devil fruit and stands but not anything within them, which I think risks making them feel less personal.

@fiore @AppleAmps devil fruits choose the devil fruit user sort of like magic, like- if you’re a silly and energetic boy you get the rubber fruit (luffy) cause like, being bouncy fits your deal

@fiore @AppleAmps in jjba though i think they do feel a bit separate but where you get the personality is in what methods for using their stand they’ve come up with

Didn't know that! I think that's a really good solution, then.
