Ok ok ok one more story pitch:
This one is a horror story. And it's about humanity meeting with another intelligence at last (rather than aliens I like to think that we just communicate with ants at long last, but it could be aliens)
But in this story we are telling them about the "Mirror test" and very smug about how some creatures can't pass it "You see? he thinks it's another dog!"
And the ants are just not getting it "it *is* another dog. Don't you know how mirrors really work?"

This is making me THINK, as you and your formicogical thoughts often do.
I love this analogy; what is a mirror to a colony organism, anyway: an optical mirror is meaningless to a hive mind
But a massive LLM is like a papier-mache collage from our collective written output
it's a mirror to the culture (collective organism?) looking backwards in time
And we react to it like the cats that puff up in the mirror at that weird other interloper
