question for everybody, if you live in a socialist society, something like the beginning of a dictatorship of the proletariat, and one day due to climatological conditions caused by capitalism social unrest grows massively and they decide to elect fascists that will bring us back to now, to failing neoliberalism, what do you prescribe?

@FagMode59er this would lead to even more social unrest, potential collapse, would it not?

@FawnOverFun Would not happen for the same reason people don't vote in feudalism in a modern liberal system.

@chjara i think my verbiage of β€œutopia” was wrong here. i mean in the beginning stages of a dotp specifically, as further out from that the effects of climate change could probably start to be reversed. at least, some of them

@FawnOverFun In the context of a socialist government existing within the context of capitalist siege however, roll in the tanks ElainaSip

@FagMode59er i used to feel similarly, and i do believe a military revolution is lost, but now i’ve come to see a gramscian theory of change. mass education, sustained and participated in by all, could lead to people truly understanding the need

what demo is most amenable to socialism right now? college educated people, there is a reason for this

this kind of change could be reasonably made within the confines of capitalism as well, fully socializing education isn’t out of reach for anywhere, not even on a basis of being politically unpopular.

i don’t believe the US will achieve socialism until we are broken from being a global hegemon, but see, our influence is waning currently. and yes it will be very bad for the world, what we’ve done, but afterwards, while rebuilding, i do believe any socialists we make proper figures of right now will inspire something, and perhaps we will attempt social democracy, and then during that we may socialize all education, and in a couple generations socialism among the gen pop is supported by 70% of people, etc etc

i do believe in a future, and i don’t believe you should give up. i highly encourage you to read up on some of these things if you haven’t, it alleviated my nihilism massively

@FagMode59er there was recently a very good jacobin article about some leftist candidates winning more of the working class vote and i think you should read that

anyways, your ideology seems to be informed by your general malaise

socialism appeals to the educated and always has because it’s hard to conceptualize a new society, every time progress has been made in the world like this it has started in academia and that’s not necessarily a bad or unharnessable thing

you are free to believe the world doomed, but it’s not, people will always be alive and be trying things
