It honestly really annoys me everyone is sucking Eugen;s dick about hating Facebook when he;s like 70% of the reason ANY Fedi server federated with Threads because he directly worked with them, welcomed them with open arms, and encouraged others to do the same

He knew Facebook was like this. We all did. He was given an unending flow of feedback and information about their inethicality. It;s not some new revelation. This was always going to happen, they were just waiting for the right time. And if he wasn;t so laser focused on the “growth” of the Fediverse he would have seen that. It;s way too late for him to go back and go “oh Facebook bad we should defederate them”
That;s what the Fedi pact was for, the thing he openly opposed

@shroomie Yeah. After their recent anti-queer policy changes he;s been talking about defederating Threads and encouraging its users to move elsewhere, saying verbatim he doesn;t like Facebook.

@alfredohno ah yes the same fedipact that was run by a performative lib who made a big deal about refusing to put disqordia on the list (despite signing the pact) then pretended to attempt suicide while featuring eightpoint.app onnthe same list (an instance who was "formerly" run by a known serial rapist and fed [and co.]).

stop acting like that stupid pact was anything greater than some shitlibs publicity stunt. many people defedded with threads without signing that, and there were also many who did sign it that werent listed due to vantablack not wanting to feature various arbitrary reasons (some for valid reasons admittedly).

say what you want about disqordia but im p sure they werent nearly as bad as an instance run by a person with credible rape accusations, and credible fed accusations. if vanta truly cared about not wanting problematic instances on that pact, she would not have featured them. especially when LB is still trying to manipulate her way into positions of power, and grooming others. i wish i was kidding when discussing this person.

@alfredohno@woem.space "But he is a good guy! He might have been wrong on this single issue bigtime, but that does not mean he deserves all the criticism he receives!"

I asked him what his reaction would be now that Threads will probably become the same hell-hole like Twitter. I don't expect him to answer (honestly). Every other responsible admin would at least consider silencing threads on their server, seeing as there will be a lot of hate coming in the foreseeable future
endorsed by Meta.
But alas, all he can do is "suspend users that don't adhere to mastodon.social's guidelines". Have fun moderating millions of people. Mastodon.social can barely even do that with all the users they have.

And all that.... Is just the things about Threads. There are more grievances/accusations one could bring up against him (some more benign, some more serious).

I always hope people recognize the pattern after a while. Of course, he might change direction and actually stand behind what he said. Hope dies last, after all. But people tend to forget unfortunately.
Until something happens the next time.

@Mondobizarrro Okay

  1. Disqordia had nothing to do with an explicitly anti-threads thing
  2. I have nothing, personally, against Disqordia. Nor have I ever said I did
  3. I do not know the person who made it personally, most people don;t. It was to illustrate the point that it was made abundantly clear to him what was wrong and why

I;m not gonna start an entirely different argument here. I;m just saying Eugen is a sack of shit that;s just changing sides because it;s convenient for him. Disqordia drama does not factor in.
