Every time I see the prime minister speak about how crap the economy is, I am reminded of that scene from Iron Man (2008), which I have recreated here
Anyway, the Marshall Plan only kicked in after 1948, so to be honest, it’s pretty impressive we were able to have support “from cradle to grave” with a shoestring budget
Which of course the Labour party of today are keen to forget happened
@yassie_j keir stamer has to be one of the most useless politicians on the planet. he makes joe biden look like a brilliant tactician, senility and all
@jiub my only thought is that he is doing harsh things now, so that when the next election happens it will all be forgotten about
But yeah, he’s currently not going very hard after the wealthy and affluent in our society nor the corporations, which is very much counter to the idea of a “Labour” party
@yassie_j i'm just thinking, my brother in christ, you have your own currency and the capacity to borrow an extremely large amount of money. just borrow money so such extreme cuts don't need to happen even if it causes some inflation
@FiringSquadsEnjoyer @yassie_j ok wow when you put it that way that probably wasn't easy lmao
clearly i attributed too much to incompetence and not enough to evil
@jiub @FiringSquadsEnjoyer yeah he’s not incompetent, his electoral strategy was very sound. He targeted voters pitch-perfectly, which allowed him to get one of the greatest parliamentary majorities in British history with one of the least shares of the national vote. It’s impressive how good he is as an operator. I can imagine that while it looks politically unpopular and unplayable to do what he’s doing now, there is some overarching vision in mind.
