this netart wont lead u to firm conclusions about how schizo or chud or larper the creator is. in fact, its core beneath the rancid collages is a deep bitter resentful rage with the entire modern internet, the way everything is made to look and talk and be, something i ultimately resonate with.

@detondev This is bullshit. I fucking hate zoomers. What the hell do they know about the internet? They're writing HTML, trying to kill themselves writing HTML, I don't have any respect for that. You can see their tiny pathetic little blade of sincerity if you read between the lines, you can see them fucking stammering, trying to imagine anything positive they can slip in there, anything comforting to humans or non-humans. Let me tell you something. I'm dying, I've been dying for a long time now, and various processes in my brain have conspired to make me imagine that things could be better, virtuality could be real, basically it's like some terminal lucidity type thing. I have no doubt that the person who made that, they got all their teeth intact, they're physically strong, they can stand up for eight hours a day no problem and they can't imagine a god damn thing! They don't know shit! I fucking hate zoomers.

@erin @detondev

HTML = HellTech™ Markup Language. Basically the devil.

Damn kids don't know anything about making Gridpages in CRISP like the ancients did.

@detondev i don't personally know how certain i am that "schizo" design necessarily represents underlying hatred or rage with the modern internet? i've always read it more as being representative of how the creator's brains are laid out, and what a website looks like when it is made only for one person (said creator.) not that i don't understand a hatred of the modern web though.

@shroomie this to me is pretty clearly an imitation of schizo site aesthetics rather than an actual schizo, something that youll get a feel for if u look at lots of schizophrenic artistic output like i do lol. i didnt say anything about schizo aesthetic inherently representing phone bad somehow, that bit comes from, yknow, the actual website. the totality of subject matter and presentation and so on and so forth.

@detondev ah. i had actually thought you took photos of multiple websites for this lol and didn't look too close anyways. tbh i also didn't want to spend too much time on the actual page, considering the fact that their email is the hard-r

@detondev @pr1ncess Hello, thanks for your response. I think the princess's remark is more helpful and insightful than anything I could give, but I'll try my best.

To be honest, from my perspective you also purported to be "wise and above it all" in your review. I found your use of the word "art" in describing that website to be violently impersonal and unwilling to engage with it on its own terms, and I thought "rage at the current internet" was a reductive descriptor of it as well. However, my sensibilities regarding language are very specific and as such you should take all of that with a grain of salt. I also don't mean to come off as rude here so sorry if you read it that way.

Anyway, most if not all of the leaders in history have been shitty, malicious, stupid, and corrupt. The present moment isn't really unique in that regard. Honestly you just gotta live, you need to meet a lot of people and take a look at who they are and what they're doing, and if you can't do that then it's good to at least read books and stuff.

I was listening to Mark Fisher's "Slow Cancellation of the Future" lecture a couple days ago and he made the point that most of the present-day potential energy for interesting things lies in broken and lost promises. The tech industry has fruitlessly promised so many improvements for our lives--what if those promises were really fulfilled? What if the human body didn't fucking suck? What if Niantic didn't fumble the bag in 2016? What if [insert artist] wasn't a talentless hack? What if the Internet was more than content aggregation? I'm sure you can think of many more.

Of course, it's generally a poor idea to try and resurrect dead movements as-is, but every failure stems from concrete and calculable reasons. Find something dead that you really, sincerely wish succeeded, poke and prod at it, figure out the reasons for collapse, see if you can do better. Figure out why you're even there in the first place, because there probably aren't actually that many people there, even shit like climate change or police brutality will probably have less people than you'd expect trying their various weapons on it.

I looked at your website. It's cool. It's better than mine, it's definitely better than that other one. If you don't see it that way, imagine a more expansive and flowering version of it, or a more concise and minimal version, or a more interactive version, or something completely different. I'm not saying like go transform it Right Now but rather that in your mental model of your website, this tangle of possibilities should be visible. The site itself is perfectly self-consistent, but its immediate surroundings share no common element. That's chaos!

The reason I want to completely scrap and rework my website is because I'm uninspired by the possibilities I see stemming from it. The form of the static blog has been a general letdown for me.

Anyway, that's pretty much all I wanted to say.

@erin @pr1ncess im kinda woozy n unconscious rn so hopefully im getting somewhat right things from this

1. i dont say shit like "if ur so high and above it all" in any way but a lighthearted way which isnt clear here and u dont know me enough for that to be alright so whoopsie how different would this be otherwise im a girl and am just now learning everything in the universe outside christ u should infodump abt ur neurotic word opinions so i know how much our actual views connect

2. i think im already on what u said? been talking for ages about the unfullfiled promises of y2k era netart and worries abt how to make anything of lasting value for a bunch of nihilistic apathetic zoomers even as i barely feel any different most the time nowadays. i have nowhere near the technical skills and speed to fully realize my site one day but i act like thats not an issue. when are u even talking about my site as opposed to this one im autistic abt the wording too
