to me, one of the oddest things Nintendo's been doing lately is withholding switch 2 dev kits, barely anyone has them still, which has left the switch 2 library feeling a little bit wimpy, especially compared to the start the switch got off to

like nitrome, for instance, has a game I've been looking forward to for, getting closer to a year now, called Mouse Work, that they mostly have finished but haven't been able to release because they haven't gotten a dev kit, and they said not only do they not have one, developers bigger than they are that they know also do not have dev kits yet either

the only reason I could think of why they'd be so stingy with dev kits is that they're trying to avoid low quality shovelware/AI generated stuff like the switch eShop has, but if they really cared about that, they'd just. moderate their platform better? you can't just try to control content on your platform by limiting who can make it, like. why are you just implicitly throwing up your hands and accepting that it'll be there? that is your platform my good sir!! you can choose what gets on there!!

idk why every company has decided it's better to just let people buy garbage on their platform than it is to have a good reputation but that's where we are I guess

@fluttergirly my hypothesis is that they’re scared of modders and hackers, but idrk

@shroomie I mean, the switch was only hacked due to a physical hardware fluke, and that was only the first model, no other switch model has been hacked still to this day

and people have been saying it will likely be at least a decade before the switch 2 is hacked, if ever
