Eh, I'd imagine it's less so wanting more trans soldiers and more, like, being in the army is kind of a canary in the coal mine, right? It sets the precedent you can make trans people illegal in certain areas without pushback, so when it comes to stripping us of other rights cis people have it allows them to make it seem like an extension of what they've already been doing.

@AppleAmps i’d say that the bathroom bills & other laws passed prior to now would probably serve as more effective canneries/precedent setters. b/c on one hand restricting enlistment isn’t something the nation does to a population it’s planning to treat with respect, but on the other hand if anyone is using this as their line in the sand for if we’re about to be screwed over then i think their priorities are bizarre and alien to me.
