i think the problem with a lot of deltarune theories is that they reach really good conclusions with a Really strong logical base

but they start at the premise that toby fox did everything of that intentionally and i dont think thats true a lof of the time youre looking at meaning from coincidences or just development quirks or jokes

Sock Muppet does really good deltarune analysis but recently he’s reaching very deranged conclusions and it seems the problem is that he takes everything as intended to the point of digging into files and recreating unused content and connecting things and at some point you’re like

okay, this all makes Perfect sense and is 100% likely .

only if you start with the premise that toby fox intended all this and i dont think all of these details are on purpose. i think some of them just are and toby might change their mind about them

at some point you’re analysing text strings and counting the actual number of occurences of speech quirks to identify logically who is the speaker and

okay if toby fox planned this Perfectly logically you have a good case

but i dont think he did its equally likely this isnt intentional

his theories worked really well for the time he was working on Petscop. to the point where he’d extrapolate like. game code from reverse engineering how a dial works in the game and the amount of angles it turns every frame

but thats because petscop was very gamey and worked a lot with puzzles of that sort where things matched up

undertale? ,, look i dont think hard math is gonna solve gaster because i think we dont even have enough info yet to solve gaster. no matter how much you calculate the likelihood of a string being gaster text

like at this point you’re building speech quirk graphs to narrow out dialogue and

im sorry i dont think toby thought that hard i dont think this is actually intended i think you’re drawing patterns because you’re assuming everythign is intentional

or Analysing the .. Color of blueprint sprites to identify how old they are by how washed out they are and

im sorry i Dont think toby fox thought that hard

i think that blueprint is yellow because it matches the color pallette of Alphy’s lab

not because it’s ancient

there’s no indidcation at all its ancient or that the blueprint is special in any way

its just a blueprint

and you’re applying real life chemistry and material degradation to a pixel art

the chainsaw RIGHT NEXT TO IT is the same color. Is metal normally yellow? yeah it isnt right

I know for us, writing, we sometimes think of future plotpoints to connect stuff, or how could reference past stuff; and that is iterated upon. Sometimes there are weird, fascinating connections we only realize after writing.

Saying this to agree that the idea of all the unused game files being the key to solving everything is... Definitely silly.

It is still living, being actively woven, and reacting to fan response. I imagine Toby could of left some crumbs in the code, but struggle to imagine it would all be relevant.

@jolitl god napstablook being there is making me think about the weird connections between muffet and gaster. like there’s a few things no s i remember picking up on, but the main thing is that the “entry number 17” noise is just a slowed down muffet laugh. what does that mean? also, where *is* muffet in deltarune, anyways?! she’s a boss monster, you can’t just disregard her

@jolitl i mean it does make sense that she isn’t in deltarune, she’s apparently a fan design

@jolitl i hate this why is entry 17/garbage noise a laugh that may or may not belong to a spider girl. how is this relevant. were supposed to be file digging to find entry 17. Toby must have known we were gonna find out
