its really fun not being able to concentrate on learning shit i actually enjoy and care about but having no problem memorizing random facts about pecan trees, a type of hickory tree native to texas, oklahoma, arkansas, louisiana, a couple other states and parts of mexico. they grow nuts that are super yummy and used in for example pecan pie and praline candy but weren't cultivated as a crop u until the 1880s making them one of the most recent crops to be cultivated in the US. they grow best in areas with long, hot, humid summers and are usually harvest in october. the US typically harvests about 270 million tons iirc of pecans every year making up about half of the worlds pecan production, mexico making up most of the other half.
