It's challenging to find a way to talk about how fucking terrifying the Trump administration is that doesn't imply that the status of things prior to this was anything less than utterly disastrous.
It's nothing new. But they are emboldened and brazen and moving as quickly as they can towards the worst outcomes they can come up with.
So it's not like there's nothing special about what's going on right now. It's an intensification.

just a PSA that the german SBGG (self determination act), which allows one to change their legal name and gender relatively easily, is <b>available to anyone with a residence permit</b>, not just german citizens.
even if your home country won’t acknowledge the updated identity and you can’t get new identity documents issued, it will be recognized as your legal identity in germany
someone from my registry office confirmed this to me today

So...morale is pretty low around here.
I realized yesterday that my husband needs some extra love and encouragement right now. Trump's inauguration and first actions in office are a lot to deal with, and it's easy to become scared or discouraged.
We gotta look out for each other right now. It's not enough to just mentally survive individually...we have to strengthen each other too.

moderation policies
